FUTURE CARD BUDDYFIGHT

Future Card Buddyfight is a Japanese collectible card game created by Bushiroad. The card game was launched worldwide in 2014, along with the English version card pack and animated series.

The manga adaptation began serialization in SHOGAKUKAN’s CoroCoro Comic in 2013, while Volume 01 launched in 2014. It follows the characters in the anime series, with the protagonists engaging in battles that use actual tournament rules. Buddyfight tournaments and workshops are currently available worldwide with more monthly sanctioned tournaments planned for the future!

BEYBLADE BURST

Beyblade Burst is the new generation of Beyblade based on the popular Beyblade toy franchise by Takara Tomy. The third incarnation of its series, the manga was serialised in SHOGAKUKAN’s Shonen magazine CoroCoro Comic in August 2015. The anime adaptation premiered in 2016.

POKÉMON

Pokémon is the most successful and lucrative video game-based media franchise in the world. Debuting with the first game, Pokémon Red and Blue for the Nintendo Game Boy in February 1996, the series sold 300 million copies worldwide and evolved into a global phenomenon.

Pokémon properties have since been merchandised into anime, manga, trading cards, toys, books, and other media. In Singapore, Pokémon manga is one of the top selling children’s series, Pokémon Adventures being the best seller, followed by the movie-to-manga adaptations.

In addition, SHOGAKUKAN ASIA also produces omnibuses for the video game series which are hugely popular compendiums containing information about the various species of pocket monsters.

DORAEMON

Doraemon is a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by the manga writing team Fujiko F Fujio, and has also been adapted into a successful anime series and media franchise. The story revolves around a robotic cat named Doraemon, who travels back in time from the 22nd century to aid a boy named Noby.

Today, Doraemon has grown to become one of the most recognizable and marketable comic characters in Asia and around the world and one of Japan’s cultural icons. Awards for Doraemon include the Japan Cartoonists Association Award for excellence in 1973, the first Shogakukan Manga Award for children’s manga in 1982, and the first Osamu Tezuka Culture Award in 1997. On 22 April 2002, on the special issue of Asian Hero in TIME Magazine, Doraemon was selected as one of the 22 Asian Heroes, the only comic (manga/anime) character to ever receive this honor.

In 2008, Japan’s Foreign Ministry appointed Doraemon as the nation’s first anime ambassador. Doreamon celebrates its 100th anniversary in 2014.

DETECTIVE CONAN

Detective Conan is a Japanese detective manga series written and illustrated by Gosho Aoyama. The series is serialised in SHOGAKUKAN’s Weekly Shonen Sunday from 1994, and has printed 103 volumes to date.

The series won the 46th Shogakukan Manga Award for the shonen category in 2000, and has been adapted into video games, live action series, movies, and an anime series. A Detective Conan movie has also been released each year during Japan’s Golden Week since 1997. 2023 marks the 26th Detective Conan movie, Black Iron Submarine, that has been released.

SHOGAKUKAN ASIA has selected the best stories from the collection of Detective Conan series and compiled them into individual standalone volumes to enjoy. In addition, spin-off series detailing major and minor characters in the universe have been created for readers.
